SPONSOR A SUSTAINS INTERNSHIP!

OVERVIEW

SUSTAINS Internships will provide University of Pittsburgh undergraduate science, technology, and math majors opportunities to learn more about how to share their knowledge of sustainability with young adolescents.
The Pitt SUSTAINS Program is offering internships for credit or for pay (as early as Spring Semester 2013). Interns will spend time at local school or youth service site interacting with students and educational professionals to develop and enact activities and projects with a sustainability component.

DESCRIPTION

Interns from Pitt will spend 3-8 hours per week. Most of the time will be at a local school or youth service site interacting with students and/or working on a specific project. Part of the time may be spent offsite, developing materials and preparing for activities that require offsite resources, such as Pitt libraries, etc. Interns can work with classroom teachers or enrichment coordinators at schools to enhance a pre-existing structure or develop new sustainable work opportunities. Interns will be under the guidance of a University (academic) advisor as well as an advisor at the site who can provide more field-oriented feedback on their performance and growth. The number of interns per site, actual time onsite, and the specifics of the projects themselves will be decided by the availability and needs of the site partner, as well as the selected internship credit experience (see below):
